Driving lessons may become more expensive as fuel prices rise

Share

Driving lessons could become more expensive due to rising fuel prices. Industry groups say it is up to driving school owners to decide whether to pass on these higher costs. The longer fuel prices remain high, the more likely this will happen, according to Irene van Drongelen, chair of the National Professional Association for Quality Improvement in the Driving School Sector.

She expects owners to absorb the extra costs at first. “If prices stay high, owners will probably pass these costs on to customers. In the end, the customer pays the price,” Van Drongelen said.

Hugo Mentink, secretary of the Association of Driving School Interests (VRB), also stressed that each driving school owner can choose whether or not to charge customers more.

Mentink added that, like other motorists, driving school owners in border regions are likely to refuel abroad more often.
