THE HAGUE (ANP) – Some drought measures have been scaled back again due to the rain of the past week.

The Rijnland Water Board states, “We are bringing water levels back to normal summer levels and switching back to the usual water supply. The fish passages are being reopened.” This water board covers the area from Wassenaar to Amsterdam and from IJmuiden to Gouda.

The water level in the IJssel has risen above the critical value at the Ankersmit pumping station in Deventer over the past few days according to the Drents-Overijsselse Delta Water Board. Therefore, one pump at the pumping station has been switched back on. “This means that we can pump out more water again to supply the Deventer region and a large part of Salland.” The temporary emergency pump has been switched off.
