Fuel prices in the Netherlands are continuing to increase as renewed violence between the United States and Iran drives up oil prices.
On Tuesday, the average recommended price of a litre of Euro95 petrol reached €2.546, slightly higher than the previous day. The recommended price of diesel rose by 1.7 euro cents to €2.393 per litre, according to figures from consumer discount platform UnitedConsumers. Fuel prices had already increased by several cents during the previous week.
Oil prices have been climbing since the two countries launched new attacks against each other. Additional pressure came after US President Donald Trump imposed a blockade on Iranian ships in the Strait of Hormuz and demanded payments for other cargo passing through the waterway.
Oil price changes usually reach filling stations after a delay. Motorway service stations generally charge the recommended prices. The conflict involving Iran has been contributing to elevated fuel prices for several months.
