The Centro Latinoamericano de Orientación (C.L.O.) celebrated International Women’s Day in Eindhoven on Saturday, 7 March. Held at the Parktheater (Parktheater), the event brought together residents to honour the contributions of women under the theme “Give to Gain”. The C.L.O. organised celebration is known for its festive vibe and lived up to its expectations this year, with about 650 guests in attendance.
This year’s theme highlights the idea that by sharing, supporting, and contributing, communities can grow stronger and empower one another. It reflects the global values of solidarity and mutual support that define International Women’s Day. A talk about how the world changes when women gain
The afternoon began with a moving tribute to Esra Altmiş, a beloved and influential social initiator who passed away unexpectedly last year. She was posthumously awarded the city’s badge of honour (vrijwilligerspenning) for her dedication to the community.
“This year’s theme, ‘Give to Gain’, is about the power of reciprocity,” said Milagros Maldonado, Chairperson of the C.L.O. “When we share our knowledge and support one another, we don’t just help individuals; we strengthen the entire community. Seeing so many women from different backgrounds come together at the Parktheater shows that when we empower each other, we all grow.”

The event featured a meeting point where approximately 32 organisations participated, including Expat Spouses Initiative and Tech for Teens. Visitors had the opportunity to connect and exchange information at various stands showcasing women-led enterprises. Many women representing various political parties took to the podium to show what they stand for.
Creative talents were on full display throughout the venue, with projects spanning art, coaching, education, and politics. The audience enjoyed a diverse range of performances from Bulgaria, Argentina, and Ukraine, as well as local acts from Brabant. The celebrations concluded with a raffle and a lively musical session.
