Jumbo recalls frozen green beans

Share

Supermarket chain Jumbo is removing all own-brand frozen green beans from its shelves. This decision follows news reports on Tuesday concerning dead mice found inside the packaging. The retailer confirmed to NU.nl that they are taking this measure as a precaution, though they stressed there is no immediate risk to public health.

Jumbo recently received two separate reports from customers who discovered a mouse in their bags of frozen beans. A spokesperson stated that no direct link has been established between these two incidents yet. Consequently, the company is working closely with the supplier to investigate how this occurred. “We have contacted both customers and offered our apologies,” the spokesperson said. “We can certainly imagine how shocking this must have been for them.”

Customers who purchased frozen green beans in recent weeks may return the product to any store if they have concerns. Jumbo will provide a full refund for these items.

The issue first came to light on Tuesday morning when the AD reported on a couple from Rotterdam. They discovered a mouse in a bag of beans bought at a branch in Capelle aan den IJssel. Later that day, a man from Swalmen contacted NU.nl with a similar story.
