A total of 3,915 registered participants will not take part in this year’s Nijmegen Four Days Marches, the organisation reports. Until 5:00 PM last Friday, walkers could transfer their starting places to people on the waiting list through the event’s website.
More than 11,000 people remain on the waiting list without a place, according to the organisation. Interest in the Four Days Marches has exceeded the number of available spots for many years. “In recent years, we have seen how many people would like to participate in the Four Days Marches. That is something to be proud of, but it also means that we cannot accommodate everyone. We understand that this is a disappointment for people on the waiting list,” says march leader Henny Sackers.
This year’s Vierdaagse takes place from 21 to 24 July. More than 45,000 walkers will cover 30, 40, or 50 kilometres per day.
The number of cancellations is higher than ever. In 2024, 2,355 starting places were transferred, and in 2025, the number rose to 3,384.
