Buses replace trains as ProRail carries out major maintenance
No trains will run between Schiedam and Den Haag Hollands Spoor from Tuesday 28 July through Friday 31 July. Railway infrastructure manager ProRail will carry out essential engineering works along the route during this four-day period.
National rail operator NS is running replacement buses and warning passengers to prepare for longer journeys. The extra travel time can add up to 30 minutes. Passengers who prefer to avoid bus travel can detour by taking the train via Gouda instead.
Multiple projects planned along the route
ProRail will use the four-day closure to complete several projects simultaneously along the line. Work crews will replace steel rails, lay new concrete sleepers, and refresh the track ballast.
In addition to track renewal, technicians will conduct structural measurements inside the Delft railway tunnel and perform necessary maintenance on the Rijswijk tunnel. Meanwhile, teams at Den Haag Hollands Spoor will finish the final phase of works on the railway yard.
