On the third day of the Nijmegen Four Days Marches, 42,450 participants completed the route. A total of 1,257 walkers did not start or dropped out. The dropout rate of 2.7 percent is slightly higher than in 2025 and slightly lower than in 2024. The third day is known as the toughest due to its many elevation changes.
Three participants were disqualified on Thursday, the organization reported. Two soldiers were removed for carrying less than the required 10 kilos in their backpacks. A civilian participant was disqualified for walking with the wrong wristband and refusing to turn back. Of those disqualified on Wednesday, two appealed but were unsuccessful.
Friday marks the final day of the Four Days Marches and is expected to be the warmest, with afternoon temperatures reaching 26 degrees. On the last stretch, walkers cross the Maas River at Cuijk via a temporary bridge built by the military, before making their festive arrival on the Via Gladiola in Nijmegen.
