Public transport operators in major Dutch cities have begun restoring services following Wednesday morning’s strike. In Amsterdam, services are expected to return to normal by midday, according to a spokesperson for transport company GVB. In Rotterdam, RET expects its timetable to be fully operational again by around 11:00.
Both GVB and RET had earlier advised travellers to delay using public transport until later in the morning. “We are restarting, and it will take a while before everything is running again,” spokespersons for both companies said separately. In Rotterdam, metro stations remained closed until 08:45 to allow trains to return to their starting points. Services resumed at 09:00.
The GVB ferry service has continued to run as usual, as ferries were not part of the strike.
In The Hague, public transport company HTM reported that all buses and trams were on their routes from 08:00. A spokesperson said it was not yet clear when the full timetable would be restored. Travellers are advised to monitor the timetable closely.
