Schiphol Airport is bracing for a busy summer season, expecting to welcome more than 12.7 million passengers between early July and late August. This marks a steady increase from the 12.4 million travellers who used the airport during the same period last year.

The airport anticipates handling an average of 219,000 passengers each day—including those departing, arriving, or transferring—up from 213,000 per day last summer. Daily departures are forecast to rise to 71,000 (from 69,000 last year), matching an expected 71,000 daily arrivals (up from 70,000 in 2025). Transfer passengers will make up the largest share of the daily traffic, with an estimated 77,000 travellers connecting through the hub each day compared to 74,000 a year ago.

Holidaymakers are largely sticking to familiar favourites this year. Spain, the United Kingdom, and Greece top the list of the most popular destinations, followed closely by Italy, Turkey, and the United States, while Portugal, Germany, France, and Ireland also remain highly favoured getaways.
