The Netherlands now has its third regional heatwave of the summer. GilzeāRijen reached 25.4 degrees on Monday. Weeronline says the Brabant village has already recorded three tropical days since last Thursday, and Mondayās warm weather completes the heatwave criteria.
The previous regional heatwave ended in early July. A heatwave requires five summer days in a row with temperatures of at least 25 degrees. At least three of those days must reach 30 degrees or higher.
Later today, more areas may also meet the criteria. Weeronline says temperatures must reach 30 degrees in Westdorpe, Woensdrecht, Volkel, Horst, Ell, and Maastricht for those regions to qualify.
