Three of the eight people arrested last weekend after a stabbing in the Frisian village of Noardburgum have now left custody. The police say the released suspects are an 18‑year‑old woman from the municipality of Westerwolde and two girls from Franeker and Leeuwarden. They still count as suspects. The five people who remain in custody also remain suspects.

A fight involving several people broke out on Reiddekerstrjitte in Noardburgum (municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel) during the night from Friday to Saturday. Witnesses say someone stabbed people during the fight. They also say someone may have fired shots. Police officers later found a minor boy from Tytsjerksteradiel nearby. He had cuts and stab wounds.

Officers arrested two suspects at a nearby home shortly after the incident. They later arrested another six people at the same address. The police suspect all eight of involvement.

Regional media say a large group gathered at the house on Saturday evening. Someone smashed a window and burned a flag. News site WâldNet reports that the flag was a Syrian flag taken from the home. A day later, someone threw a bicycle at the taped‑up window.

The five suspects who remain in custody are three 18‑year‑old men from Zutphen, Dokkum, and Heerenveen, a 20‑year‑old man from Tytsjerksteradiel, and a boy from Velp. Mayor Kanter Breuker told the Leeuwarder Courant on Sunday that the village feels shocked.
