Weather conditions appear favourable for viewing the upcoming partial solar eclipse in the Netherlands on Wednesday. Forecasting service Weeronline does not currently expect widespread low cloud cover that could block visibility, although clear skies are required to view the event properly.
On Wednesday 12 August, almost 90 per cent of the sun will be hidden behind the moon. Peak coverage will occur at 8.11 pm, when the sun will already be sitting low on the horizon. Heavy clouds could spoil the view, but Weeronline currently expects only patches of high wispy clouds (sluierbewolking).
While the Netherlands will experience a partial eclipse, a total solar eclipse will be visible in parts of Iceland and Spain.
